What seems to work the best for me is a drink made with 12 oz. 2% milk, one scoop chocolate whey protein (24 grams), and one tablespoon Nesquik... I down that and eat an apple - the sugars in apples are wonderful for quick glycogen replacement - within 30 minutes after every long-ish ride.

As always, YMMV.
