For me, that ride was 20% further than I usually go and with a messed up chain 1/2 the way it was smooth sailing anyway. Leaving in a moment to do the ride again as soon as my buddy gets here. The Rillito/Santa Cruz Loop are connected trails going through the "river" banks which are natural areas going through the town. Open areas of desert and also old growth trees left to nature in between the houses and businesses. I use the word "river" in quotes, because they only have water in them maybe two days a year! The flow is all underground which cools off the surrounding area with its moisture in the air. On a bike you can feel the difference between 4% ambient humidity and the 6-7% in the old growth tree areas.
Ok Dan, I will take more pics today, but I don't know that I can add much more to the description of the Raleigh Pro - it is an amazing ride, the best I have ever had the pleasure of throwing a leg over. When I got to the bike shop to inquire about a better chain I let them mechanic take it for a quick spin to experience the problem I was talking about. He was gone 15 minutes and came back with an incredible grin saying "I usually ride single speed track bikes, but this is a beauty! I have got to get a frame like this. " He did not even try to offer an apology for being gone so long with it! I suppose it is a strong statement of this bikes uniqueness to hear praise coming from a hipster bike mechanic who rides crits on vintage track bikes, he forgot to be ironic.
