Leo_96 Welcome to the forum. Without pics it's hard to say how good a deal you got, but $30 is a pretty low price for a bike. As long as you don't have to sink a lot of money into it to bring it around, you may have done well.
Assuming that both bottom brackets have the same design, i.e. square taper, 0.5 mm should not be a big deal. Check your chainline after you mount the drive side.
