I had a wonderful time today. My LBS gave me a couple hours of one-on-one time with one of their bike techs who taught me how to fix a flat, adjust my brakes, dust the derailleurs, and perform general maintenance. I have watched several of the youtube videos, but found that the devil is in the details. And, this gentleman provided me with tons of tips and tricks that most of you probably have down. He also should me which tools were good, how to use them, etc.

I am surprised more people don't request this. I can't be the only neophyte with any mechanical expertise. Anyway, a big thank you to High Adventure in Latham, NY, and especially Chris for a great, educational day.
