I know these threads are everywhere but I wanted to ask if what I am doing exactly is bad.

I was going to take the chain off.

Soak in Mineral Spirits for 2-3 hours

take out let it dry

Buy some kind of lube ( need recommendation)

Then wait for lube to dry and reapply chain to bike

Yes or no?
