Sleeveless is a whole different category. If I invited you somewhere, and you asked me what you should wear, and I said "anything you want," and then you showed up in a gold's gym tank top thing, I'd be like "Dude, seriously? You can't come like that." And I would be correct.
When we say "anything that's comfortable," we really mean "anything that's comfortable and not completely lame." And that includes sleeveless. It also includes speedos and trucker caps.
