Hi Fusero -
It doesn't sound like you, personally, use the bike for trail riding. What are you looking for in an upgrade?
With a $200 budget, you won't get much of an improvement with a new fork. At that price, I would check the classifieds here at Bikeforums, Mtbr.com classifieds, or Ebay for used forks. You'll need to look for a 100mm suspension fork with a 1 1/8" threadless steer tube and disc brake mount. You'll also need to verify the length of steer tube you will need, if you go the used route - you can get a ball park measurement by placing a ruler on top of the fork crown and measuring to the top of the steer tube/stem.
Since you're letting friends borrow it, I'd recommend a fork with air preload(or dual air). This way it is much easier to change the spring setting for different weight riders.
