My buddy (from UK) has had his Dawes for 20 odd years,
story goes this was somebodys "beaterbike" and thrown together from mishmash parts
He purchased it in almost exact same condition.
to me it looks as if the original color is a forest green, then long time ago it was painted over black and the dawes decals put on.
27" wheels, he tried 700's but there was just not enough reach.
I have never seen such a collection, absolutly nothing matches on the thing,
shimano shifters,
huret rear derailleur
suntour front
sunshine front hub
mallard rear
the rims dont match!
mavek brakes
I believe the stem is original. GB hiduminium
Im sorry for bad pictures but is getting dark here

any help trying to first figure out what it was supposed to look like,
and then maybe somebody (like Randy) has some of the bits he is willing to part with to get this bike closer to original.

It is my friends bike, not mine, he has a limited budget.
