One Buck Solutions - Yakima Rack

undefined

I own a Yakima fixed arm Hitch Rack and found I had 2 problems:
1. Storage
2. How to avoid a poke in the eye by the arms when it is on the car.

Solutions that may be helpful:

1. 2 large hooks spaced 8 inches apart from the rafters. Hang the rack by its shoulders and it will balance nicely so the arms are parallel to the ceiling, and out of the way. I'd attach a photo but it says my file is too large. :-(

2. Family Dollar sells colorful tennis balls 3 for a buck in the pet section. Using a utility knife, I cut an X into the balls and created endcaps for the arms. They are bright enough I hope that passer's by wont hit themselves on the rack while I'm parked....I hate it when I get sued.

I had one extra tennis ball, so I screwed it into the wall where I was leaning my bike. I can put the end of the horizontal handlebars into the ball and it stabilizes the bike enough that it wont fall over when my German Shepard bumps it. I just hope he doesnt think he needs to fetch the tennis ball off the wall...
