My first real race bike I got was in 1981. It was a black and silver Premier 101(Australian bike I believe made by Malvern Star). I can see it in my mind today...it was beautiful.
I did get a second hand orange Chevron back in about 1975 which I put high handle-bars on (like your old schwinn stingrays) because I could pull great wheelies / monos on it.
