The problem with aluminium alloys is that they tend to oxidise very quickly when exposed to oxygen. Then can be welded using TIG welding equipment, since this releases a flow of inert gas into the work area that shields the joint from oxygen. Aluminium welding is far from easy though, even for an experienced welder.
