From what I recall, the problems I had myself trying
to braze and/or weld aluminum is that you don't get
much feedback on what the temperature is from visual
cues like color change in the material.

So you get to where you need to be, temperaturewise,
and you're suddenly at the point where a chunk of it
vanishes. Very disconcerting.
