I think I fell 5 times when I started using clipless pedals last summer. The first was going up a hill in VT when my chain fell off, the rest at full stops. When I came home with the final bloody knee, my wife threatened to buy me knee pads. I will say that I felt a mixture of embarassment but also undeserved toughness riding 50 with dried blood all over my shin.
