You can go east at Oxnard and come through Moorpark or a little farther north and come through Fillmore.Your trying to get to Palmdale and then across the desert north of the mountains. It's a long ways out of the way and you'll be on the wrong side of the mountains.

Or it's come through Simi Valley,San Fernando,Glendale area, you'll be on the correct side of the mountains but there will be lots of traffic like on the coast. You can catch Valley Blvd/Foothill(route 66) and take it across town, then drop down wherever you want and head south towards Orange.

It's either ride through Simi Valley or through the desert, then cross the mountains and end up in San Berdoo and backtrack home.

The coast is a nice ride, even going through the beaches.I'd stick to the coast route unless you like the adventure.

It's going to be noisy anywhere towards L.A.,8 million people live here and they all have cars.

Have Fun!
