Medaglia had reported his car stolen the day of the crash to the Oakland Police Department, and Berkeley police placed an alert on the vehicle.
Oakland police found the car that had been reported stolen and later found its owner, Medaglia, at a the Jack London Inn at 444 Embarcadero West, police said.
When police entered Medaglia's hotel room, they arrested him on charges of possession of a heroin, felony possession of ammunition, violation of probation and a felony hit-and-run.
That pretty well sums up the kind of person who runs into cyclists with a car, especially when it appears to be on purpose. I'll bet his driving record is a beaut too.
