Nothing on the coastal plain of southern New Jersey, where I live, comes close to qualifying. We're flatter than a ... Ok you all know the end of that one. But I spend a lot of time in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. I think the entire state of WVa. is on a 7% grade. If this thread gets a following I'll be more than happy to post specifics next time I'm down there.
I'm from West Virginia, and there are definitely plenty of big, steep hills. But nothing that's going to be close to 5000' elevation change. The highest point in the state isn't even 5000' feet high.
