1989 Trek 400 Shimano Ferrule

Hello all,

So last summer I purchased a (virtually) brand new 1989 Trek 400. Great condition; no dents, scratches, fork wasn't bent, frame was perfect. I noticed some minor parts were missing and having worked in a shop and knowing a few guys in Brooklyn I went down yesterday to build her up. However, when I was connecting the gear housing from the derailleur to the frame I noticed that a normal Ferrule wouldn't fit. My buddy told me that it was a old school shimano ferrule and that it would be really hard to find one and that I "should have made sure it didn't fall off". Regardless, it did. So now in the meantime I'm searching for a way to find it with no avail, yet. I'm coming here to ask if anyone knows where I might be able to find something like this. Thanks.
