Bikes: 1949 Raleigh Sports (keeping original), 1946 Raleigh Sports (too tatty, will be updated)

After a weekend of tinkering and cleaning, I think I'm just about done.

Jobs completed:
  • OA bath for all chrome parts
  • Meguiars Scratch X followed by wax
  • New Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres, tubes and rim tape
  • Grease/oil everything
  • Treat saddle with neatsfoot oil
  • Replace brake cables with NOS/pattern parts (they were at their limits, and one wasn't original anyway)
  • Replace brake blocks with Kool Stop Continentals
  • Replace SA driver with 3-spline type from 1980 hub
  • Replace indicator chain
  • Replace sprocket with 22T version
  • Replace chain
  • Replace nasty red & blue crimp terminals to rear lamp with plain metal ones and black heat-shrink

Jobs still to do (awaiting parts):
  • Replace front & rear lamp bulbs with LED items
  • Replace grips (in my haste, I cut off the old grips, thinking that they were nothing special. I now believe that they were the originals. I've fitted some temporary replacements whilst I wait for some NOS ones to arrive)
  • Tidy the lighting cables using NOS John Bull rubber ties

You can see all the finished pics here, but a few to start with:
