Anybody notice improvement in hill climbing when switching from clips/straps to a clipless setup?
Clipless (and a good saddle) is definitely a climber's best friend. On a very long climb, I lower my heart rate by being seated and pulling up on each stroke. Also when sprinting up a hill, clipless will drastically improve your power output.

more motivated perhaps?
You are probably right. I likely overcompensate when on a fixed gear up the hills.
