Sorry about TYFO or typing. I was talking about 9 & 10 speed STI shifters working with a 9 spd LX,XT or XTR mountain bike rear derailuer, not the new 10 spd mountain bike componets working with 10 spd road componets.

Both bikes in pic's below have 10 spd Ultegra STI shifters, 9 spd specific Shimmano LX rear derailuers and the new 10 spd Shimmano mountain bike 11-34 rear cassette and they shift great. The 10 spd road long cage ultegra rear derailuers and 10 spd 11-28 cassettes were removed.
