I might be more pro-helmet but for this scar on the back of my head. I got it after I rolled off my bike and got up with a head wound and a helmet in perfect condition. then before I got home to clean up ALL the blood, I was told twice "it's a good thing you had your helmet". sure.
What I hate:

You get in an accident and survive.

People say, "Wow, you were so lucky."

Um, no -- If I was lucky, I wouldn't have got in the accident in the first place; the rest is sheer happenstance/physics and measures taken beforehand to avoid an accident or mitigate damage in such an event.
