Total noob from Prince Edward Island, Canada

44 year old IT professional. As a young teen I lived on a 10-speed I 'borrowed' from my Dad. In my late teens I was in a motorcycle accident that left me structurally altered: right leg 2cm shorter than it used to be, reconstructed right knee and hip, lots of other issues.

Fast forward to last year when I decided I was tired of being fat and started to eat less and move more. 5 months and 75 pounds later I was running in local 5km races in under 30 minutes. Yehaw.

A coworker asked me if I was considering riding - which I was not as I thought the leg-length issue would stop me. Then I realized I had thought that would stop me from running, too, and I was running 5km daily, 5-6 days a week. So he loaned me his Specialized Allez and I discovered I had never ridden a bicycle before - just bicycle-shaped objects. LMAO Two 5k rides in under 10 minutes each and I'm hooked.

I've ordered a Motobecane Turino and will be picking it up from the depot next week. My first 'real' bicycle!

I live out in the country and it's 16km around my 'block', which works out well as once I can do that distance twice in a day I will be ready for my 16km commute... hopefully that will happen soon!

So - back to lurking, learning and laughing.
