Hey, so I'm looking at getting a road bike since I currently only have a triathlon bike (QR seduza) and saw a local ad for a 2005 specialized allez elite triple for $600 and was wondering what people think. The guy says it only has 1,000 miles on it which seems really low (maybe too low for a '05 since I've probably put a good 2,000 miles on my tri bike in the past year). Nevertheless, I plane on haggling a bit (most people jack up the price to account for this anyway), so what should my max be?

My plane for this bike is to use it for doing hill routes and mountain passes mainly since although I really like my tri bike, I here that road bikes are a lot better at climbing. Yeah most people find it crazy that I've never really ridden a road bike but I'm only 20 so when i got into triathlons, I only bought a tri bike. Actually, I've gotten a ton of road biker ask how I do serious climbs with a tri bike like the Appalachian gap http://www.northeastcycling.com/six_gaps.html. I will say this gap was hell spinning at like 30 rpm at times in my lowest gear.

So what do y'all think about this bike to help my climbing needs?
