I'm a very big fan of cold hard facts.
as you will observe, the proportion of cycling casualties that involve serious injury has been declining fairly consistently in the UK since the 1970s, and that decline appears to have continued on the same trend line since helmets became common. Whatever it is that has made cyclists less likely to be killed or seriously injured, it isn't wearing a helmet.
