I don't think the vast majority of the riders had any issue with the opening miles in Redlands. However, if the route continued on Cypress for another .1 - .3 of a mile before making a left onto Center St., Pacific St. or San Jacinto St., the issue that those few riders had could be avoided.
Or people could just be more responsible and pay attention to the route slip.
