So I was planning to do a bi-modal commute today, driving to the Park N Ride and then biking in from there, but as I loaded the bike onto the car I noticed that I had a flat tire...
on the car!
I hadn't driven it since Saturday and didn't notice a problem then, so I figured it was a slow leak. I grabbed my bike pump and started pumping it up with the idea that I'd deal with it tomorrow. As I did so, I spotted a small metal object (turned out to be an upholstery staple) embedded in the tread, which I stupidly removed and was rewarded with the sound of leaking air. As it happens, even with air audibly leaking a car tire holds enough air that I was able to make the 5 minute drive to the tire shop with about 20 psi.
Anyway, it was fun telling my wife that I had a flat tire, getting her reaction, and then telling her it was the car.
