I must respectfully disagree. I prefer to true my own wheels, build my own bikes, and I've even built my own wheels and rebuilt a set of hubs; but this is one that is best done by a trained specialist, IMO.
I felt like a fool for paying Nate that much money to shift my saddle forward and up, and shifting my cleats backward--all adjustments were less than 1cm, and the saddle height was less than 1/2 cm. It's pretty easy to be off by more than that by eyeballing it yourself.
I felt like a fool, until I was able to ride every day again, and even ramp up my training intensity without knee pain. Then it occurred to me that the knee surgery could probably have cost my medical insurance $15,000, and that my bike fitting cost me about 1/100th of that.
I hope whatever you do works well for you, but I was in your shoes Caliwild and the bike fitting was just what the doctor ordered for me. Good luck!
