Folding Bicycles (even little ones like Bromptons) are heavy. In earthquake country, you learn not to hang heavy things. They might come crashing down -and pose a real and very bad physical danger to others. Or even the bike might become severely damaged if it missed you or others.

There are better ways of storing your bike. I roll my bikes around the house in various available hidden nooks & crannies safe from Helliion my Bengal cat. Even where I live dead center in an earthquake zone. My methods are as follows:
  • Mover's Furniture Dolly
  • means of attaching the bike to the dolly shown below (straps, bungee cords)
(works only with steel)
  • Castor Wheels
  • magnets to attach wheels to key points on bike's side
