I'd like to switch from a 23c to a 25c tire on my road bike but I don't think they'll fit between the brake pads when removing/installing the wheel. I have Ultegra brakes and the existing 23c tires just barely fit between the brake pads when I remove the wheel after lifting that little lever. I think the 25's may be too wide. So, is there any way to widen the opening when I lift the lever without changing the width when the lever is closed?
An expensive solution would be to convert to Campy levers, but keep your Shimano brakes (or any other brake with a release lever). Campy's levers have a little button to serve as the brake cable release built right into the lever. This combo would give the maximum opening.
