Hi guys

I'm new to the forum and am planning on buying my first road bike. I initially went to look at Trek's because they are one of the reputable names I had heard of and was interested in buying one. To compare it to what else was out there I went down to the performance bike store and the salesman was showing me a GT Series One leftover from 2010. From what I'm reading it sounds like the GT has better components but there are some mixed reviews on whether the quality is there since it was taken over by pacific. They are comparatively (within $100 of each other) priced and I'm hoping I can buy a bike that will last me for a few years. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.
