One thing you may want to consider is the sizing of the bars, amount of bar tape, stem length, crank arm length, etc. when comparing parts on their smallest frame, vs. the larger frames, and extra material for the larger sized frame... all of this could easily exceed a pound of weight.

My BMC roadie came with 440mm width bars, 110mm stem, and 175mm cranks which I'm sure isn't the case for the smaller sized frames.
