Ah ha! Didn't know about that. Bicycle Times ran a story (linked over in the SSFG forum) about a guy who climbed Mt. Ventoux on an IRO fixed gear - all four routes in one day. If someone can do that, well, someone may try to do what folks did on the original clubman bikes and take on a time trial (or race) with that QR hub.
I used to keep an eye out every year for the results of the Tin Can Ten (a 10 mile time trial somewhere in the UK). The speeds were mid to upper 20's IIRC, which is much faster than I've ever TT'd 10 miles, let alone hilly miles, or hilly miles on a Sturmey.
