I am currently riding with a women's cycling group that is getting off the ground (am even a co-organizer). We just decided to have "pace" rides in addition to our no-drop rides. We did a ride on Sunday in honor of women as part of CycloFemme and it was a 25 mile route. It was a no drop ride and I was one of the ride leaders. It was frustrating to keep having to stop and allow for the two slow riders to catch up (who were guests of a club member and were on mountain bikes). I have improved my conditioning and I was actually TRYING to go SLOW so they wouldn't get too far back. My avg spd for the ride was 12.6mph...while more current "normal" avg is about 14-14.5 mph.

And I do have empathy for the slower riders...as I was on my hybrid until I got my Madone on April 6. I was the one in the back struggling to maintain the pace. The road bike makes a difference for sure!

I might look into other groups if my cycling ability outpaces the current group but I like the group members and would probably remain in the group and ride with them but maybe not exclusively. Depends on where the group ends up as far as rides and such. We are working on getting jersey's and we have a sponsorship (discounts) from Jax.
