OP, I highly recommend getting a pair of bibs.

Reason being, bib shorts are most comfortable without choking you at your waist, and you have no fear of them falling off if anything were to happen... It might seem like a ridiculous idea to wear tight clothing but it's specialized for a reason. Chances are people have seen a cyclist before and you won't be the first. It is simply more comfortable and cools better than any other idea.

If not, then just ride. No one will care what you wear or how you feel while you're wearing whatever... except for other cyclists. We'll judge you.
