I then asked if I could buy enough to fill my water bottle. He said "Uh, hold on" and ran into the house, saying "Maaaaaaaaaaa" as he went in. Came out a few seconds later and told me that his Mom said it would be OK. So I opened the bottle, and he diligently filled the cup, poured it into the bottle, and repeated until it was full.
