This bike (a 1980 Raleigh Grand Prix) feels like greased lightning even on the slightest slopes, and I'm averaging about 12mph according to Strava. I hope to improve that.
Every day when I get off the train after work, I feel giddy about unlocking my bike and hopping on, even though I know my muscles are about to be in pain. I hope that giddy feeling never goes away.
You should work on endurance and add some recovery time. You don't want to burnout or injure yourself so fast that you become uninterested in riding.
