NEWS Update! - From St. Louis
Yesterday (Sunday) We had a group ride to the crash site. We put up a ghost bike and people put up flowers and other momentos. I was able to put a small, "Share the Road" sign on one of the handlebars. The ghost bike will stay up on a post this entire week. It is located on Olive Blvd headed East. Right before you get to Lindbergh. The whole thing was very well done. We had the media, police and the wife of the cyclist said a few words of thanks for all who were there to support them in their time of grief. Karen who helped coordinate the Ride of Silence / Ghost Bike gave a few words about how much Mike meant to her and why we as drivers should consider our vehicles to be weapons (guns). We should respect cyclists as humans who are trying to get somewhere just the same as the car drivers. In all we were reminded as cyclists that we must keep ourselves aware of the potentials for where we ride. I know I have changed my route and others too based on this incident. Unfortunately it has been because of the loss of a fellow cyclist. May his memories last in our hearts and may he keep cycling in Heaven where there are no cars to keep us from that next mile ahead!
Keep Cycling!
