I am closing in on 7k miles on my 2010 model Giant Cypress and my only regret is that I did not know about spoke tensioning when I started.
I have since learned to maintain my own wheels and have had no further issues. I recommend "The Bicycle Wheel" by Jobst Brant as a great read.
