Today was Bike-to-work and I rode from a local park to the event. On my return to my car a ground hog came out of the tall grass next to the trail and hit my front wheel. I was on the ground in a flash. After laying there for a moment I determined there were no broken bones so I got up to check the bike.
The bike was in riding condition but the right shifter sustained some significant scratches and is bent out of shape. I just had this bike to the shop for a check up but it looks like another trip will be necessary. It shifted and braked okay on the rest of the ride so I think it's only knocked out of place.
The blood on the trail belongs to the ground hog. I bet he stops and looks both ways before crossing the bike trails in the future.
Thankfully the weather was a little cool at the start and I had on light tights and a jacket. My right knee sustained the most damage

I bet this is going to be sore tomorrow! I have a small patch of road rash on the right elbow but the jacket and tights are still in perfect condition. I must have hit the left hand on the trip to the ground as it's slightly sore, too.
I don't have any rides scheduled until the middle of next week. I just hope the knee is ready by that time
