Jumping in this late... I'm just tired of over-produced garbage. I want drummers beating the hell out of drums. I don't want every strike on a drum kit to be at the same level. I might choke the next Jack Johnson sounding singer I run across. Guitarists........... (I am one), tone is created first and foremost by the instrument, then the amplifier. Fix these two first, then break out the pedals. I'm tired of everything sounding like it's running through a Metal Zone/Distortion pedal with the 'level' cranked all the way up. I almost never use pedals. I have different guitars for different tone.
Tone is shot, production value is shot. I'm thankful for people like the Black Keys, through whom I've found many other bands who still have some raw power, and actual tonal crafting.
Oh, and U2... I'd rather listen to Karma Chameleon for an hour on end than listen to an entire U2 album. Karma Chameleon makes me wish I had temporary hearing loss.
