Sadly, here where I live our local Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Coordinator doesn't see anything wrong with installing bike lanes next to on street parking, particularly when it's in the door zone, nor does she see anything wrong with intersections that have combined through/right turn lanes.

DC,

You're not alone, our latest bike lane install is in the door zone, the reasoning for this was that this street had low on street parking numbers. This bike lane would have been ok, but the 10 ft adjacent single lane makes for some dicey moments, especially when being passed by semis, construction vehicles, vehicles with wide trailers or mirrors, while I'm passing parked vehicles at the same time. My favorite section is when the bike lane ends and turns in a sharrow facility, where I can move out into the lane when need be, with no "line in the sand" for motorists to harass me over.
