Bikes: Cannondale Synapse '06, Mongoose titanium road bike '00--my commuter. Yes, Mongoose once made a decent ti road bike.

If you've got the disposable income to spend $7000 on your ride, what's a little more for a power meter? Of course, as a racer you will be using it for training, right? If not, don't get it.
