I'm here looking for the same advice.
My fave shorts are a pair of NOS Cannondales (made in the USA, no less !) that I bought at a swap meet this winter. My old faves were BlackBottoms.
ALL the new shorts I try feel like I imagine a loaded diaper would feel.
Does NO ONE still manufacture a short with minimal synthetic chamois ?
I have Selle San Marco saddles on most of my bikes, a Italia Turbo and Vetta Carrera on the others.
Only one bike has a newer saddle, and that is a Forte' Classic.
