I think the Shimano 6700 chains are pretty nice. OK so it's not tip top or the lightest, but do you want to have to worry about your chain. My local shop swears by this chain for any Shimano or SRAM drive train. Installed correctly, they last. I put 4000 randonneuring miles on one and had zero problems. Shifted lovely until the end.
Sure, just make sure its a 6701. That bad batch of 6700's that came over was awful. Hopefully those have all cleared out from the market by now. Side plates would just break under medium stress, and a few people got hurt. Luckily mine broke going up a grade at 7mph.
