In my early 60s, I lived about 10.5 miles from my place of work.
Cycling there took about 35 minutes (never did get under 30), plus shower and change (say 15min). the route was largely on a mixed rural and urban road and pretty hilly, but with net altitude gain on return journey.
Driving took, maybe 35-50 minutes, depending on traffic (I worked part-time, so could go outside rush hour), plus parking in the multi-storey and walking, (say 15 min). Rush hour traffic rides took about the same time. Rush-hour drives took an extra 10 minutes. About 2/3rds of the car route was motorway.
Fortunately, I worked for a local council highways dept. (as a cycling officer) and about a dozen of us rode in.
