A friend of mine who works at an LBS was talking today while mildly inebriated, and let slip that his store pays something along the lines of 310 dollars for a Trek 1000-So is this the reason why there are no online sales for the vast majority of major bike names? Because that is a stupidly large margin for most stores that sell the 1000 at 600+. That is, assuming this figure he gave is correct, but it makes sense to me. There really needs to be some competition on prices the many brands. In my relatively unexperienced eyes, Speciallezed, Trek, Fuji, Felt, etc... are selling products with almost no differentiation at a serious artifical price inflation.
