I take up this thread again if someone is interested. Some days after I found myself trespassing more and more the 20 miles per hour needle in my computer, and really I said before I don't compete, but I really compete against myself, and I think all of we that like the road bike like the speed. Also, I thought that anyway in the hills I already suck, so no big penalty in that matter I guessed, so I decided to buy 50 mm. profile wheels. Very satisfied with my Dura-Ace C24 I found no reason to change of trademark, so I choose the completely entry-level wheels WH-RS80-C50, I found them in a german online shop for 650 € (520 $ current rate). They weight little more than one lbs more than the C24. Curiously, they are more or less the same cost.
The first time I took them I inmediately noted the different pace and a really splendid, buzzing sound. And there was no placebo effect, one mile and there is a slightly elevation, where with my cold legs, I always, and always mean 4 years, had to change to the small ring. Today I could keep the big with absolutely no effort, for first time in my life. I could keep the bike in completely different gears than usual. That day I was absolutely breaking all the records until my calf complained because with my new frame I am still adjusting my fit. Today I just have came back of 42 miles with 3200 rising feet, and felt absolutely no penalization of the weight just until 8% slopes, I guess the aerodynamics balance the weight. But 8% beyond, I indeed felt the weight, and it feels very drastically, at least with my current fit level. Anyway the average time, even for so much hilly day was about 1,5 miles per hour better than other days, noting that only some feet in the route trespassed that threshold. So, I guess high profile wheels with a significant reduction in weight have to be something near to paradise.
Additionally and not related, with this new frame, and the fork cutted by me at the height you'll see in the picture, I've checked by first time, that road cycling can be comfortable. Absolutely no pain in the shoulders with the hands in the hoods, notably better control in descents, and the best part, when all my cycling life the saddles have been a torture for me, now with any shorts, and any saddle, all they are sofas for me, so the problem for me wasn't the sadddles or the shorts, was evidently the position. When I got home, when I always suffered from pain in all my upper part, today I was like new. Cheers.
