I agree with the above if you take it from under you have to add it above or cut. If your unsure about this your better off takeing it to the shop. Along with the above video check out the CaneCreek site for HSs.

The Spacer is actually part of the CaneCreek HS and I think they make shorter ones.
You should replace that bolt with a Stainless one from the hardware store.
