To answer your earlier question: I got the frameset from a garage sale, but it doesn't have any indication of brand or serial number that I can find. I can tell it's steel, but the 'ping' doesn't sound like a high-end tube of any kind. From everything I can gather and compare it to, it's just a basic, double-butted, welded steel frame, probably made in China or Taiwan. Got a slick, industrial look with the chrome and the visible beads. That fork you found may complement it well.
