I used to live in the DC area. I'd vote for a ride either around Frederick or VA Hunt Country. Frederick probably has a more extensive network of well-paved rural roads. I went for a PPTC ride back in October that started in Frederick, went up Catoctin Mtn, into Woodsville, back across the mountain into Thurmont, and back to Frederick. It was a great ride!
